Who controls your data

Iványos László Barnabás e.v., trading as MGx8 Technologies, is the controller for the processing described here. Contact us at info@mgx8tech.com or by post at 2340 Kiskunlacháza, Peregi vásártér utca 2., Hungary. Full business details appear in the Legal Notice.

What we collect and why

  • Website visits

Our web server and hosting provider may process IP addresses, browser details, request times and error logs to deliver the site and protect it from misuse. The usual legal basis is our legitimate interest in running a secure service.

  • Orders and payment

When you buy a license, we keep an order reference, product, license type, amount, currency, payment status, Stripe identifiers and the email address returned by Stripe. Stripe hosts checkout and processes payment details under its own privacy information. We do not receive your full card number. We use order data to perform the purchase contract, provide support and meet accounting obligations.

  • License activation

We store license records and activation events. Depending on the product, the license and the request, these can include the vehicle identification number (VIN), a hashed identifier of your computer (for licenses that are bound to a computer), installation identifier, app version, IP address, browser or client identifier, event time and diagnostic event details. MGx8 Tuner is activated with the license key, the hashed computer identifier, an installation identifier and the app version, and does not use a VIN. We use this data to activate licenses, prevent misuse and resolve support issues, primarily to perform the license contract and protect the service.

  • Using MGx8 Flasher

Besides the license check, MGx8 Flasher sends our server the VIN and the software identification of the control unit when that is needed for the operation you start: to check or assign a Single VIN license, to provide the factory reference files (Virtual Read) or to provide the signing information needed to write the control unit. The server processes this data to answer the request and to keep a record of license use. The backups, files and session journals that Flasher creates are stored on your computer.

  • Updates

When an application checks for or downloads an update, our server processes the product, the installed version and your IP address to answer the request.

  • Messages to us

If you email us, we process your address and message to answer the request and keep relevant correspondence for support, accounting or legal claims.

Cookies and external resources

If you allow optional download statistics, a random first-party cookie named mgx8_download_visitor is set when a release download starts. It lasts up to one year and is used to estimate distinct downloaders. Only a hash of that identifier is stored with the release filename and download time. This optional processing is based on your consent. Without it, we still count the download but do not set an identifier or include the click in the unique-browser estimate. The current website does not use an advertising tracker.

The site loads font files from Google Fonts. That request can disclose technical information such as your IP address to Google. Payment pages are hosted by Stripe, which may use its own cookies and process data under its privacy policy.

A separate one-year mgx8_analytics_consent cookie remembers your choice. You can reject or change it at any time using , or delete cookies in your browser. Withdrawing consent stops future identified download counting and clears the download identifier cookie. Downloads continue to work. See also our Terms of Use.

Who receives data

Rackhost Zrt. hosts the website, database and transactional mailbox. Stripe processes payments and Google receives requests for hosted fonts. We do not sell customer personal data. Some providers may process data outside the European Economic Area; where that occurs, the applicable transfer safeguards and provider information should be reviewed with their privacy terms.

How long we keep data

Order and accounting records are retained for the period required by applicable law. License records are kept while needed to provide and administer the license and to address disputes. Technical logs and support correspondence are kept while needed for security, troubleshooting or legal claims. The download cookie expires after one year. There is currently no automatic deletion schedule for license events or server-side download statistics; requests for deletion are assessed against contract, accounting and legal obligations.

Your rights

Where the GDPR applies, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or object to certain processing. You may also complain to your data protection authority. Send requests to info@mgx8tech.com; we may need to verify your identity before disclosing order or license data. These rights are subject to the conditions and exceptions in applicable law.

For more detail about these rights, see the European Commission’s GDPR guidance. In Hungary, complaints can be made to the National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (NAIH). We may update this policy when our services or legal requirements change; the date above shows the current version.
