What MGx8 does
MGx8 makes Windows software for BMW MG1 engine control units, in three tools that work together. MGx8 Logger records live engine data and offers log review, road dyno estimates and drag timing. MGx8 Tuner is an editor for the calibration data in BIN files. MGx8 Flasher identifies an engine control unit, saves a backup and writes calibration data over ENET.
The software supports selected BMW vehicles and engines; the current compatibility list and system requirements are on the main page.
Free and paid
MGx8 Tuner is free to download. Opening, editing, comparing and saving BIN files needs no license; applying the built-in Stage tunes needs a Tuner license. MGx8 Logger can load saved runs in Log Viewer, Dyno and Drag for free; a license connects it to a vehicle. MGx8 Flasher is included with a Flasher license.
A Single VIN license (Logger or Flasher) binds to one vehicle when it is first activated. An Unlimited VIN license (Logger or Flasher) can be used with any number of vehicles on one computer. A Tuner license covers one computer and is not tied to a vehicle. The Terms of Use describe the licenses in full.
Built to improve
MGx8 is under active development. The latest stable Windows versions, release notes and purchase options are available on the download page. Compatibility and features can change as the software develops.
